NEW Spring Candle: Persian Lime

Just as in nature the flora and fauna seem to undergo a rebirth each Spring, so too do we crave a seasonal reawakening as the days grow longer. To celebrate the season of renewal, Linnea’s Lights has released three new scents for spring. The first I’d love to introduce you to is our new Persian Lime candle.

Bright and effervescent, this candle blends tart lime with crisp grapefruit and rich notes of vetiver. Combining natural soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and pure scents, Linnea’s Lights clean-burning candles are carefully hand-poured in small batches.

- Soy wax, fragrance oil, cotton wick, glass
- Double wick
- Scent: Persian Lime
- 9 oz.
- Handmade in the USA

Exploring London Town

I am currently in London meeting with friends and vendors and I have been looking forward to this trip all Summer! I’ll take any excuse to hop the pond, and have so been enjoying my short time abroad.

This morning I stopped into Borough Market where I enjoyed some delicious paella and couldn’t help but gaze at all the beautiful fresh fruits, flowers and veggies. Later on, I walked on the south bank along the Thames, took in the Tate Modern with its inspiring showing of Saloua Raouda Choucair (the world’s first major museum exhibition of this remarkable Lebanese artist). Afterwards I enjoyed the view from the Millennium Bridge and couldn’t help but marvel at my luck with the beautiful weather here!

I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few other great spots, some of them UK vendors for Linnea’s Lights, including: Les Choix de RomyHeal’s, Luma, Lipp Interiors, The Birdcage, and Graham & Green, were some highlights.  They are all so lovely! Now I’m off to enjoy my last few days here, and please let me know of anything I must see or do before heading home.

Bring the Garden In

As Spring quickly moved on to Summer, the flowers in the yard have been in full bloom. Apartment Therapy recently posted a very timely piece with some lovely ideas for bringing the garden in,  and they were also kind enough to include us in the piece. With so many floral scents in our line, you’ve got some wonderful ways to freshen up the home for summer!

Try some of our favorites:

New! Wild Fern

New! Peony

Magnolia

Tuberose

The heat wave has not let up by us, so we’ve been trying to get to the local pool with the kids as much as possible. I’ve also been making ice-cold lemonade and keeping temps down indoors with A/C and a mix of my favorite Linnea’s Lights Summer-inspired White Coral, Ocean, & Sea Salt candles close at hand. Chill out at home with candles like these or for something clean & fresh, our Garden Mint candle is also a favorite. Available from Oliver’s Twist.

How are you all holding up in this heat?

Fresh Summer Pastimes

After our wonderful family vacation in France, it’s business as usual here in Indiana and we’re busy getting the factory ready for Fall & Holiday. Aside from all the wonderful goings-on and delicious new scents in the works at the office, I have been indulging in some of my favorite pastimes: going for a walk in the neighborhood, gardening and, recently, teaching the kids the importance of living green.

Since Linnea’s Lights is an environmentally mindful company, I felt it an important lesson to imprint on those precious young minds. Last night, we picked all of our bountiful tomatoes, summer squash and cucumbers from our home garden. We had the most wonderful salad with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil from the garden with a drizzle of olive oil from our to trip to Mausanne les Alpilles and a sprinkling of sea salt from Camargue. It was heavenly!

Lately we’ve also enjoyed shopping at the local farmers market together. It’s a great way to spend some productive quality time together, see our neighbors and shop locally. When we can’t get it from our own garden, we know we’ll find fresh fruits and vegetables there, and the vibrant colors are almost hypnotizing. Nothing beats biting into a juicy piece of watermelon on these hot August days, plus it’s the perfect destination for fresh scent inspiration; it’s all about the multi-tasking, after all!

What hobbies have you picked up this summer?
