Versatility

Candles are usually associated with celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and many other festive occasions. Most of us don’t realize that candles have many different uses and are actually extremely versatile. Over the years, my mother and I have fallen in love with our candles and enjoy finding new ways to put them to use. We like incorporating our seasonal scents into our holiday decor (Forest Fir is a favorite around Christmas and New Year’s), and our full line is just perfect around the house and studio as decoration, aromatherapy and even come in handy as emergency lighting during power outages! Personally, I love to relax with calming scents like our Lavender candle. In fact, experts recommend relaxing with Lavender, which is thought to help create a sense of deep calm, soothe the nervous system, and stimulate the immune system. What are some ways you like to use candles in your home and which are your favorite scents to unwind with?

Rest & Relaxation

I find that one of the most wonderful advantages of being in the candle-making business is that I am always mere moments away from a restorative aromatherapy session. Lucky me, I know! I just love burning our lavender candle while soaking in a warm bath, drinking a glass of wine, cooking a family dinner or while talking with friends. I find it eases all of my tensions and it’s such a simple solution after a long day of work.

When life gets in the way, as so often happens, what do you do for a quick exercise in relaxation? Which Linnea’s Lights candles help you unwind?

Postcard from Provence

My dears, it’s been so lovely spending some much needed quality time with the family here in France but I couldn’t stay away from the blog too long!

From antiquing in Marseille at Le Grenier des Puces, the fabulous Les Deux Marc and Massilia Toy Village Antiquaire for the kids, to the poppy fields and lavender of Provence, I’m feeling refreshed and inspired. Surrounded by so much history, indulging in fresh baguettes, rich pastries, regional cheeses and of course the finest wine, to say I’m enjoying myself is an understatement!

I’m taking in all the purest scents of the summer while I’m here and know our Lavender, Mimosa and of course the Cote d’Azur gift set will all bring me back to this special time.

I hope you’re all enjoying the long summer days and keeping cool!

lavender…

Lavender

Revered in ancient Rome for it’s healing properties and relaxing scent, lavender once cost Roman’s the equivalent of a month’s wages or more.  An exquisitely luxurious flower, lavender is said to sooth headaches and improve sleep quality.  This scent infuses lavender’s healing effects with rosemary’s sensual woody undertone and lively citrus top notes, releasing the true power of this transcendent flower. Lighting this candle releases a tranquil and refreshing scent guaranteed to lighten any mood.

I so look forward to the scent of spring meadows after a long winter, as they’re bursting with sweet violets and fresh grass. Culled from this sweet inspiration, this scent is soft & clean. This candle represents the perfect blend of fresh grass & sweet violets.

Pick up Sweetgrass at Mohr & McPherson (Boston, MA).
