Since Linnea’s Lights was cultivated from such a deep family lineage, I’ve always had a strong interest in family history. Thanks to Anthology Magazine, I’ve just come across the striking work of these Evajuliet Atelier customizable family trees.

Each tree is an archival print with an original illustration by Eva. An art director, graphic designer and illustrator, Eva works out of her Quebec design studio and creates not just family trees, but also gorgeously intricate art prints as seen on her Etsy page. Her romantic and sweet style lends itself perfectly to gift giving. A fabulous keepsake and such a thoughtful gift idea!

Jet Set: Traveling with Candles

Summer always has me dreaming up my next escape and I so look forward to our next family vacation. In the meantime, I was reading the beautiful new July issue of InStyle Magazine with cover girl Kate Hudson, and found myself pulling out a few helpful travel tips from the Jet Set pages. I wanted to share one trick in particular I came across, courtesy of Jeralyn Gerba (co-founder and editorial director of Fathom: the fabulous travel website), which I have actually used for many years: When traveling, pack a few of your favorite mini candle votives. Not only will they keep your luggage smelling great, you can enjoy them throughout your travels and make any hotel feel like home without taking up a ton of valuable space! Brilliant, right?

My favorite scents for summer trips are Cashmere and Lavendar, both (and more!) available as mini votives for $16, here.

And as for that stunning image… in honor of the World Cup being played in beautiful Brazil, I couldn’t resist sharing this beautiful photograph by Charles Allmon (National Geographic) of a 1950′s scene along Arpoador Beach in Rio de Janiero.

Upgrade Your Thanksgiving Table Settings

As I prepare for Thanksgiving next week, I’ve been hunting for new table setting inspirations from around the web and in all my favorite magazines. One trend I’ve noticed? Candles! It’s true, there’s just something about a Thanksgiving table that calls out for beautiful, cozy candles. I liked some of these decorating ideas from Real Simple, which style speaks to you? For me, I’m all about the vintage mishmash and I think I’ll pair it with our new Wood candle, a terrain-exclusive pour. This sizable candle is scented with sweet, musky sandalwood and housed into a rugged, bark-covered vessel. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together and so looking forward to time with great friends, family and food!

We loved sharing the story of our journey as female entrepreneurs of a small business we love with the magazine and hope you’ll enjoy reading it. So interesting to see how much work goes into a magazine shoot, but it was all worth it. What a blast!

Edible Indy spotlights Linnea’s Lights

I was honored when one of my favorite local magazines asked to include Linnea’s Lights in Edible Indy’s latest issue (on newsstands now). The sweet article titled “The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker” puts an Indianapolis spin on the classic nursery rhyme, enlisting a longtime butcher, a German bread baker and, yours truly as the candle maker. Here, we share our thoughts on our crafts, memorable summer meals and favorite spots to dine out. Read the full story and make sure to pick up a copy for yourself!
