Summer Vacation: Hiking Through Acadia, Maine

I just got back from a wonderful, and much needed, summer vacation with the family. This year we visited Maine, hiking Acadia and thoroughly enjoyed the Atlantic Ocean and the lakes. It was a great way to reconnect and the time spent outdoors left me inspired.

People have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history. Awed by its beauty and diversity, early 20th-century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. The park is home to many plants and animals, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Today visitors come to Acadia to hike granite peaks, bike historic carriage roads, or relax and enjoy the scenery. I would highly recommend a visit!

The heat wave has not let up by us, so we’ve been trying to get to the local pool with the kids as much as possible. I’ve also been making ice-cold lemonade and keeping temps down indoors with A/C and a mix of my favorite Linnea’s Lights Summer-inspired White Coral, Ocean, & Sea Salt candles close at hand. Chill out at home with candles like these or for something clean & fresh, our Garden Mint candle is also a favorite. Available from Oliver’s Twist.

How are you all holding up in this heat?

Lynn and I have shared so many good times on our visits to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, enjoying fond memories of both coasts. Who could forget the taste of Maine lobster fresh from the ocean or those breathtaking views we glimpsed from the cliffs of HWY 1? Always in motion, the salt water of the ocean is a proven antiseptic and has been used to cleanse and purify for as long as man has existed. This fresh, pure scent inspires the feeling of floating and weightlessness.

Our Ocean candle is available from Juxtaposition Home & Studio.
